VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN: WHERE TO GO
Please show up at your shift start time. You will then have enough time to check-in & stash your gear.
EAST WATERFRONT VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN
Located in Building B at OMSI, past the parking lot toward the river. This Red building is where Kerr Bicycles rents out of. OMSI location: 1945 SE Water Ave, Portland, OR
Parking near OMSI is extremely limited and we do not have a dedicated parking lot. Volunteers are encouraged to take public transportation, get dropped off, or plan for extra time to find parking. Streetcar is FREE after 5pm, so it is easy to park and ride from nearby rail stops.
Portland Streetcar map and schedule:
Can’t find the Volunteer Check-In? Ask the OMSI front desk staff to point you to Building B.
WEST WATERFRONT VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN
Located in the Plaza Conference Room (ground floor, inside the fences) at World Trade Center Portland: WTC location - 25 SW Salmon Street, Portland, OR
We encourage you to take public transportation to this well served area of town. There are multiple parking structures downtown near WTC, including SmartPark at SW 4th and Yamhill. Streetcar is FREE after 5pm, so it is easy to park and ride from nearby rail stops to the closest Streetcar station at SW 3rd and Harrison. Portland Streetcar map and schedule (see below).
Can’t find Volunteer Check-In? Look for glass double doors looking out on the covered plaza. If not there, go to the nearest information booth, or ask a volunteer in a vest or sash.
WHAT TO BRING
Signed Volunteer Waiver Form. If you did not read and e-sign the volunteer waiver form online, print one here and bring it with you to check-in. A parent/guardian signature is mandatory for minors or else we cannot have you work as a volunteer.
Dress for cold and wet weather. Most shifts take place outdoors at night. Please dress accordingly and bring layers for Portland February weather! Backpack, gloves, hat, scarf, rain jacket, etc.
Wear comfortable, water-resistant walking shoes. Bring an extra pair of socks! Better to have and not need than to be left cold and damp.
Other things you may want to bring...
Refillable water bottle
To-go mug for warm beverages
Headlamp and/or other lighting
Charged cell phone or mobile device (waterproof!)
A pen and small notebook
Your favorite snacks (especially if you have dietary concerns)
Small backpack for all your Stuff & Things
Bring your flexible willing mindset and - above all - have fun!
